- Staincross (wapentake)
Staincross was a
wapentake of theWest Riding of Yorkshire . The district was named for the village ofStaincross and also included theparish es ofFelkirk ,High Hoyland ,Penistone , Royston,Silkstone (includingBarnsley ) andTankersley and parts ofDarfield andWragby .The original meeting place of the wapentake is believed to have been in or near Staincross.
