Paul Gaudoin

Paul Charles Gaudoin (born August 12, 1975 in Perth, Western Australia) is a former field hockey defender and midfielder from Australia, who was a member of the team that won the bronze medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. Four years earlier, when Atlanta, Georgia hosted the Games, he won his first bronze medal at the Olympics.

He was nicknamed "Goodas" by his team mates, and was considered an exciting midfielder with sensational skills and the talent and versatility to play on the forward line if required. Gaudoin was the captain of "The Kookaburras" team that triumphed at the 2002 Commonwealth Games, and won the silver medal at the 2002 Men's Hockey World Cup in Kuala Lumpur.

Gaudoin was first selected to play for Australia in 1994 at the age of 18, and his rapid rise was capped with selection in the World Cup team of that year in Sydney. He became the ninth Australian hockey player to play 200 international matches, during the Commonwealth Games gold medal match against New Zealand in Manchester.
