Aberdeen Street is a border street dividing
Sheung Wan andChoong Wan (present-day Central) onHong Kong Island ,Hong Kong . It spans fromQueen's Road Central toCaine Road in theMid-levels . In the early days after 1841, while Choong Wan was planned to be business centre ofVictoria City and an area of Westener population, Chinese population was removed from Choong Wan to area aroundTai Ping Shan Street in Sheung Wan and Sheung Wan became the area of Chinese population.The street hosted various historical building and events. The Victoria College, renamed from Central College after relocating to the section between
Staunton Street andHollywood Road of the street in 1889, was the most expensive and largest buildings inHong Kong . In 1894 it again renamed to Queen's College. It became a ruin after theWorld War II and was demolished in 1950 to make space for police staff's quarter.South of Hollywood Road was
Alice Memorial Hospital andCollege of Medicine whereSun Yat-sen has graduated with distinction in 1892. After the college was merged into theUniversity of Hong Kong , the hospital was also moved toBonham Road and renamed toNethersole Hospital .The street is named after
George Hamilton-Gordon, 4th Earl of Aberdeen .After reclamation of island north, the division was extended by
