Early life
Simmons was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, the middle child of three (one younger brother and an older sister).[citation needed]
Career
Simmons wanted to become an actress at the age of three, but waited until she turned five to pursue a career. She started modeling and appeared in commercials.[1] Simmons breakthrough was the notable role of Laurie Ann Winterbarger, first victim of Pennywise the Clown (Tim Curry), in Stephen King's It. She went on to star in Bingo and appeared in several TV shows as a child star.
Simmons' later appeared in guest appearances in TV shows before playing recurring roles in the MTV show MTV's Now What? and Crystal in Edgemont for 11 episodes. Simmons went on to star in the TV movies Carrie, Snakehead Terror and Monster Island, which co-starred Carmen Electra.
In 2005, Simmons' was cast in the comedy The Long Weekend before starring in the 2006 horror Final Destination 3, possibly her best known role to date. In the same year, Simmons' also starred in Dr. Dolittle 3 and had a cameo role in John Tucker Must Die. Simmons won the role of the recurring character Hillary in the ABC Family show Kyle XY. She portrayed Hillary for three years until the show was canceled in 2009. Simmons' also had a role in Good Luck Chuck and portrayed Lindsay Lohan in the TV movie Paparazzi Princess: The Paris Hilton Story. Due to Simmons' many roles in the horror genre, she is considered a modern day scream queen.[1]
In 2010, Simmons had a cameo role as a lotus eater in Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and starred in the critically well received comedy-horror movie Tucker & Dale vs Evil. Simmons is set to appear in the upcoming Dark Star Hollow directed by John Carl Buechler.[2] Simmons also landed a role in the upcoming show Highland Springs.[3].
