Shrewsbury High School (SHS) is a school for girls in
Shrewsbury ,Shropshire ,England . Founded in 1885, Shrewsbury High is one of the smaller schools in theGirls' Day School Trust , having roughly 750 pupils aged 3 to 18.The Senior Department is located on Town Walls, by the banks of the
River Severn . The Junior Department is separate from the Senior Department and is situated a short walk away in Kennedy Road.History
The school was founded in 1885 in Clive House, Shrewsbury, and relocated to the current building on Town Walls in 1896. Shrewsbury high School has benefitted from continual investment in improved facilities, most recently the £1.8 Million Kingsland Centre including a new Sports Hall, ICT learning suite and Art Room.Shrewsbury High School has recently acquired Kingsland Grange School, an established feeder school for Shrewsbury School to create a new Prep School. From September 2008 all girls and boys aged 2-7 will go to the Pre-Prep Department on the Junior School site whilst pupils aged 8-11 will attend the Prep Department on the Kingsland Grange site. A key part of this development is the construction of a new teaching block due to open in September 2008.
Mrs. Marilyn Cass is the head of Shrewsbury High School and Mrs. Maria Edwards and Mr Martin James are Joint Heads of the Prep School.

Shrewsbury High School Senior Department has four houses, each named after an ancient Roman deity.

*Neptune Is Blue
*Mercury Is Red
*Jupiter Is GreenThe House system proved so popular in the senior school that it was introduced to the junior school in September 2005 when, Mrs Edwards joined Shrewsbury High School Junior Department as its Head. The Junior Department also has four houses, but they are named after hills in shropshire.

*Haughmond is RedThere are many house competitions that take place each term, for example sports day, house drama and house charity events. Siblings are usually put into the same house. There are House Captains and Deputy House Captains of each of the four houses and also a Head Girl and a Deputy Head Girl. In the senior school these roles are taken by members of the sixth form.
