In April 2007, Jonathan announced his decision to quit his role as PC Rob Walker, (whom he had played since 2004) in long-running Yorkshire drama "Heartbeat". Scottish actor Joseph McFadden replaced him as village constable Joe Mason in the following series of the show.

Jonathan currently lives in Kentish Town, North London, UK, with his partner Shelley Conn, whom he met on the set of "Merseybeat" [ [http://www.mirror.co.uk/celebs/3am/2002/12/09/jon-s-conn-trick-115875-12438886/ "Jon's Conn Trick", "The Mirror", 9 December 2002, retrieved 24 September 2008] ] .
