PHPSlash is a
content management system system written inPHP . It was originally a port from thePerl code of Slash-0.2 (the code that runs the popularslashdot web site) to PHP version 3 and "PHPlib", a now obsolete system for extendingHTML templating to the PHP language. ("SeeWeb template system .") However, after development the PHPSlash code was changed into an entirely new system of PHPweblog coding.The project has been hosted on
SourceForge.net since2000-08-29 . The current version of the software, 0.8.1.1, was released onJanuary 15 ,2006 under the GPL. The companion domain / project community site, "PHPslash.org" [ [http://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=720&group_id=10566 About PHPSlash] onSourceForge.net ] , has been abandoned (as of2008-07-18 .)Name
The project is generally referred to as PHPSlash. However, the SourceForge project itself is named using a lower-case "php", as "phpSlash", which is also the case convention used in the domain name registration for the project community "phpSlash.org". However, the project documentation uses the capitalized "PHP" convention "PHPSlash".
