Aleksandra Belcova (
March 17 1892 inNovozybkovo ,Russia -February 1 1981 inRiga ,Latvia ) was a Latvian and Russian painter.She studied at the "Art School" in
Penza and the "State Free Art Workshop" inPetrograd . She moved toLatvia in 1919 along withRomas Suta , just after theFirst World War had ended, and became a member of theRiga Artists Group .She was involved in the Roller group exhibitions and Riga Graphic Artists Association in the following years. Her paintings were mostly
portrait s andstill life s, beginning as a Cubist she turned to realism in later years. Her mediums were oil, watercolor, graphic arts and she also painted onporcelain .
