cities =Whistle Lake is a small
lake located just southeast ofAnacortes, Washington , containing a number of rocky cliffs on a central island.Though relatively away from any main highway, Whistle Lake gathers thousands of visitors each year. The lake can only be reached by driving to the trailhead off Whistle Lake Road and hiking the remaining 1.3 miles in.
Whistle Lake is a hiking spot as most of the lake can be circumnavigated by foot [ [http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/getaways/040899/hike08.html Spring gaining a foothold at Whistle Lake ] ] . The scenery surrounding the lake encourages leisurely strolls. The lake itself is used for swimming and fishing [ [http://wdfw.wa.gov/fish/prospects/county_s.htm#snohomish WDFW - Fishing Prospects ] ] ; only inflatable rafts and non-motorized boats can be used. On the eastern side of the lake, a rope swing hangs near the water. Cliffs varying in height from 10 feet to nearly 70 feet attract cliff divers.
