July 13 2006 , Gourde received heavycriticism because of a provocative arm gesture made during a vote for a farm bill along withOshawa MPColin Carrie . He immediately apologized his act but Liberal MPs demanded his resignation. This incident occurred during the same week that another Conservative MP, Nepean-Carleton memberPierre Poilievre , was caught swearing in aParliamentary Commission . Gourde also received criticism from theBloc Québécois on the agriculture issues as the Party wants better measures for Quebec farmers.
