"Love Gets Me Every Time" debuted on the "Billboard" Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart the week of
October 4 1997 at number 29, the highest debut of the week and at the time, her highest debut, replacing "You Win My Love 's" entry at number 47. The number 29 entry remains Twain's second highest entry on the country charts to date, second only to "I'm Gonna Getcha Good! ". "Love Gets Me Every Time" spent 20 weeks on the chart and climbed to a peak position of number-one onNovember 8 1997 , where it remained for five weeks, Twain's longest stay at number-one at country radio. It was also Twain's fastest climb to the top, the single ascended the chart in only six weeks, replacing the record held by "No One Needs to Know " which climbed to the top in ten weeks. The single became Twain's fifth number one and fifth top ten single, it was her seventh top twenty. The song also reached number two on the Country Singles Sales chart. "Love Gets Me Every Time" became Twain's fourth appearance on theBillboard Hot 100 where it peaked at number 25, her highest at the time, it reached number 12 on theHot 100 Singles Sales chart.
