Action (formerly Action Food Barns and Action Supermarkets) is a defunct
Australia nsupermarket chain. Based inPerth, Western Australia , Action had 80 supermarkets acrossWestern Australia ,Queensland andNew South Wales , and was one of the largest supermarket chains in Australia.Trading
Its
generic brand range was called "Basics" and its corporate generic brand range was the "Signature Range". Action's last slogan was "Action means a great deal". Previous slogans included "Packed Full of Great Shopping Ideas" and "Packed Full of Good Taste".Action served in excess of 750,000 customers every week and employed over 7,800 staff. Action was originally operated exclusively in Western Australia by
Foodland Associated Limited , which also operated theSupa Valu ,Dewsons andDewsons Express supermarkets. FAL was later sold to rivalsMetcash (Australian licensee of the international IGA brand) and Woolworths in late2005 .Not Enough money!

2006 , Metcash announced that it will convert most of the remaining Action supermarkets into IGA-branded stores, however some Action branded stores remain in Brisbane (including one atWestfield Strathpine [http://westfield.com/strathpine/ourstores/details/409/] ) due to there being Woolworths Supermarkets in these centres as well as Action.
