(2004)"So Crazy / Come" is
Namie Amuro 's 24th solo single under theAvex Trax label. Released as the final single before her 5th original studio album, "Style" (2003).Overview
The release of the "So Crazy / Come" single was first reported by news media outlets on
September 4 ,2003 . Initial reports of the single indicated that it would include three original songs, however, the released single only came with two. A promotional photo used in news reports pertaining to the single depicted Amuro with one foot on top of the letter "A". This caused a minor stir with some overseas fans ofAyumi Hamasaki , who perceived the image as a statement of dominance on the singer since "A" is both the logo and the first letter of her name even though "A" is also the first letter of Amuro's nickname nihongo|"AMURO"|アムロ and actual last name. Both songs featured on the single came from international
songwriter s and producers. "So Crazy" was written and produced byFull Force who had severalR&B hits in the 1980s. "Come" is actually a cover ofAustralia n popsinger ,Sophie Monk 's "Come My Way."Commercial endorsement
In the fall of 2003, Amuro appeared in a second series of commercials for Lucido-L
cosmetics products. A slightly different version of "SO CRAZY" was used as the commercials' image song."Come" was used as an ending theme to
anime seriesInuYasha . It made its first appearance on the show in late October on episode 128 and ran for 18 episodes in total.Music videos
Snippets of the music video for "So Crazy" were premiered on the daily early morning news program, Mezamashi TV on
October 3 ,2003 . The full clip would debut two days later onMTV Japan . Directed by Musashi Muto, "So Crazy" takes place in an empty parking lot. Similar to some of her most recent videos, this clip focused on dancing rather than crafting a story around the song. Extras were used as background dancers to create a sort of clubatmosphere . Parts of the video were also filmed in green screen to include a double of Amuro. The second Amuro, dressed in a leather jacket and miniskirt, appeared in the background dancing with the extras. Both images of Amuro appeared together as one would sing the verses and chorus while the other would sing thead lib s. The clip emphasized this by zooming in on whichever image of Amuro was singing and blurring the one that was not.A music video for the other a-side, "Come," was never produced.
