Wilmot Union High School is a
public school , founded in the 1870's, located inWilmot, Wisconsin , an unincorporated community near the town of Salem. The high school includes grades 9 to 12. The high school and the town are named after theWilmot Proviso .The school is the sole member of the Wilmot Union High School District, and is fed by the following elementary districts: Randall School District, Twin Lakes School District, Silver Lake School District, and the Trevor-Wilmot Consolidated School District. The elementary districts and the high school district form the Wilmot Consortium.
On
November 8 ,2005 , the Trevor Grade School District and Wilmot Grade School District voted to merge to form the Trevor-Wilmot Consolidated School District. This change occurred on July 1, 2006. [http://www.trevor-wilmot.net]The following K-8 schools feed into Wilmot Union High School:

Current choir director, Lance Haas, was formerly the drummer for the Steve Miller Band.
Wilmot Band
The current Director of Instrumental Music at Wilmot High School is John Sorensen.
Sorensen earned his bachelor degree in music education from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside [http://www.uwp.edu] and his masters degree in education from Carthage College, Kenosha, Wisconsin [http://www.carthage.edu] . Prior to joining the faculty of Wilmot High School in 2000, Sorensen spent eleven years as a United States Navy Musician [http://www.npc.navy.mil/CommandSupport/NavyMusic/] . As well as serving as lead trumpet for the Midwest Navy Showband, Sorensen also held the titles of Ceremonial Conductor, Drum Major and Sound Reinforcement Technician. During his time with the US Navy Band, he was able to perform in over twenty countries including: Japan, The former Soviet Union, Australia, Saudi Arabia and South America.
Along with teaching at Wilmot, Sorensen is also a freelance trumpet instrumentalist in the Chicago and Milwaukee areas. He performs regularly with Milwaukee's award winning big band "Swing Nouveau" [http://www.swingnouveau.com] , the Wisconsin Chamber Brass Quintet and his own jazz combo, "The Southport Kings of Swing."
The Wilmot Guardsmen Marching Band features all members of the Wilmot Band Program.
The Wind Ensemble is an honors level class. It is made up of Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors in the Wilmot Band Program. Membership in this ensemble is by audition only.
The Panther Band and Red & White Concert Bands are open to all instrumental music students at Wilmot High School.
The Jazz Ensemble is open to all Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors in the Wilmot Band Program. Students must be enrolled in one of the large ensembles to enroll in the Jazz Ensemble.
The Big Red Machine is the Wilmot High School Pep Band. It features all members of the Wilmot Band Program. This ensemble performs at many of the home football and basketball games throghout the school year.
String Orchestra is open to all students who play violin, viola, cello or stringed bass.
