Vedensky District ( _ru. Веде́нский райо́н) is a
raion (district) of the Chechen Republic,Russia . It is located in the south-eastern area of the Republic. Its administrative center is the village ofVedeno .2004 official data reported 33 villages with a population of 36,087 people, including 9,103 children (0-17 years of age), 2,630 children (under six years of age), and 14,532 women.2002 population—23,390;1995 —32,000.Severe health problems in the Vedensky district are interlinked with the critical socio-economic situation in the region. Access to district health services remains a problem due to the presence of federal and Chechen law enforcement and on-going military activities in the area. 1999 it was reported that the influx of refugees to the Vedensky (Vedeno) district, 55 km southeast ofGrozny , led to the rise of the population in the area from 30,000 before fighting began to about 90,000 according to reports from Chechnya.
