The following is a list of current and historic sites frequently chosen to commit
suicide , usually by jumping. Some of the sites listed have installedsuicide barrier s, and other precautions.Exact numbers of
victim s are sometimes difficult to determine, as manyjurisdiction s and media agencies have ceased collectingstatistics and reporting suicides at common sites, in the belief that the reporting may encourage others.*
Golden Gate Bridge ,San Francisco ,California - over 1,500 suicides
*Beachy Head ,East Sussex ,England ,United Kingdom - about 500 suicides
*Prince Edward Viaduct ,Toronto ,Ontario ,Canada - over 400 suicides, but none since the completion of theLuminous Veil suicide barrier in 2003
*Eiffel Tower ,Paris ,France - about 350 suicides

*Rio Grande Gorge Bridge , Taos,New Mexico

*Empire State Building ,New York , New York - at least 32 suicides
*Tyne Bridge ,Newcastle Upon Tyne - at least 20 suicides
*Montreal Metro ,Montreal ,Quebec ,Canada - over 129 suicides
*Niagara Falls
*Humber Bridge 195 deaths, 5 people have jumped but survived.
*Mexico City Metro ,Mexico City ,Mexico
*Cliffs of Moher ,County Clare ,Republic of Ireland
*Vienna U-Bahn ,Vienna ,Austria
*Main Building of The University of Texas at Austin ,Austin, Texas - 9 (does not includeCharles Whitman shootings) ref|Texan
*Sunshine Skyway Bridge ,Tampa Bay ,Florida - at least 90 suicides
*Aokigahara ,Mount Fuji ,Japan - averages around 70 suicides per year
*Clifton Suspension Bridge ,Bristol ,England - 127 between1974 and1993 plus many more before and after
*Göltzschtalbrücke ,Reichenbach (Vogtland) ,Germany
*Gateway Bridge ,Brisbane ,Australia - suicide barriers have since been erected.
*Bosphorus Bridge ,Istanbul ,Turkey - Pedestrians are not allowed on the bridge.
*Minar-e-Pakistan ,Lahore ,Pakistan
*Vasterbron ,Stockholm ,Sweden - number is not known but should exceed a few hundred.
