News
In 1996, WWMB began airing a 10:00 newscast produced by their sister station WPDE-TV 15, an ABC affiliate. The News Channel 15 10 o'Clock News on TV-21 was anchored by Steve Hawley until he left WPDE in late 1996. The newscast was then anchored alternately by Dave Gilbert and Tiffany Cochran. After Cochran left WPDE and Gilbert died in 1997, the newscast was renamed the UPN 21 News at Ten and was anchored by Leo Stallworth and later by Audra Grant until going off the air in 2000. After three years off the air, the newscast returned as WPDE News Channel 15's News at Ten on UPN. Anchored by Jim Heath, this version of the 10:00 news features nightly segments such as "Say What?" and "Quick Hits". On September 18, 2006 with the launch of the CW network, the newscast was renamed to News Channel 15 News at 10 on CW 21. In 2007, WWMB added the first 7 am newscast in the
Pee Dee and theGrand Strand , with a one hour extension of Good Morning Carolinas till 8 am.CW Network In September 2006 UPN and The WB merged to form
The CW Television Network . The day after that was announced onJanuary 24 , 2006, sister station WPDE released a notice on its web site indicating WWMB would become the market's CW affiliate [http://www.wpde.com/viewarticle.asp?view=559] , however, this was a little premature. Over the next two months, the announcement ofMy Network TV and announcements of several digital subchannels and cable-only WB affiliates joining the CW made CW affiliation for WWMB seem less of a sure thing. Still, it was confirmed onApril 10 that WWMB would indeed become the new affiliate for the CW.Logo gallery
