It was created in 1998 to meet the need of the towns of Alpine, Highland and Cedar Hills. Lone Peak High School was given athletic 5A Status beginning at the 2005-2006 school year.Sports
Lone Peak High School's sports teams have won 2 different championships as of the 2004-2005 school year. The current sports at Lone Peak are Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Wrestling, Lacrosse, Swimming, Football, Boys Tennis, Girls Tennis, Track, Baseball, Cross Country, Girls Volleyball, Golf, Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, Softball, Drill Team, and "Cheer". A bowling team has just been created, and there will be a boys volleyball team for the 2006-2007 school year.

The swimming team has been among the most successful teams at the school. In its inaugural year, Lone Peak girl's swimming took the 4A state title (1999-2000) and followed that up with another 4A state title the next year (2000-2001).Fact|date=March 2008 The girls team also earned the honor of being named the "4A Sports Highlight of the Year" for the 1999-2000 year for winning 7 out of 11 events (including two individual titles each for Sonrisa Oles and Rachel Jensen).Fact|date=March 2008 The girls set a state record (200 freestyle relay) as well as winning all three relays with only six girls on the team (a feat previously accomplished only by the significantly larger 5A team, Brighton).Fact|date=March 2008 Lone Peak girls have continued winning state championship titles since (three other times)Fact|date=March 2008 and both the boys and the girls are regularly region champs.Fact|date=March 2008 In 2005 the girls won the 4A state title.Fact|date=March 2008in the 2006-2007 swim season the kinghts girls team came in third in state and the boys tied for eighth.
Soccer

Tennis
The first successful year of the Knights (2004-2005), was mainly due to the success of the doubles team. They went 20-1 losing only in the state finals.Fact|date=March 2008
Basketball
Lone Peak won its first state championship in the 2000-2001.Fact|date=October 2007 Lone Peak boys basketball were 4A state champions in the 2004-2005 school year.Fact|date=October 2007 Jackson Emery was named the Deseret News Mr. Basketball for the 2004-2005 season. Lone Peak finished second in the Reno AAU Tournament and garnered an invite to the National AAU Championship in Orlando where they took 6th place in the Junior Division II Fact|date=October 2007, the highest finish ever by a Utah team. Cross Country

Volley Ball
The Volley Ball as made state twice. They had there first state championship 2006 - 2007. They made State again year 2007- 2008.
Ballroom
The Ballroom Team has recently been taken over by Roger Wiblin. Their competition season is from September to February and they compete as a team and as couples. At the end of the competition season, they compete with the team medley at BYU. In the 2007-2008 year, they made the first cut.

The school's newspaper is the Crusader. The Newspaper is the best part of the school and only the coolest people are in it. It is freakin' amazing
Fine Arts
The fine arts department at Lone Peak is diverse. The drama department produces two musicals and several plays each year and has a competitive Shakespeare team. Lone Peak also has a very large choir program; with one choir numbering in the 200s.Fact|date=March 2008 It features other programs in the fine arts such as ballroom dance, speech, debate, and various visual art and sculpture programs.
The Chamber Choir (28 members) to took first place in Nationals in 2007 and 2008.Fact|date=June 2008
There have been 5 directors of the band program in the ten years the school has been open.
The jazz band has also consistently qualified for state, and placed in the top 3. In 2007 they were named a finalist in the Monterey Jazz Festival. Fact|date=March 2008

The Lone Peak Winter Drumline is the reigning champion in its division.Fact|date=March 2008 There are seven winter drumlines in the state, two in the same class as Lone Peak. During the 2006 State Orchestra Festival, the Lone Peak Orchestra, scored two I+'s and a I, the top score in 5A.Fact|date=March 2008 A chamber orchestra has been formed for the 2006-2007 school year.

Over 100 students get a 4.0
