List of VFA premiers

The Victorian Football Association (VFA), now known as the Victorial Football League (VFL), commenced in 1877.

First division

The first division premiership has been awarded every year except the years of the First and Second World War since 1877. The total number of premierships won by each club appears after its name in parentheses.

econd division

From 1961 until 1988, the VFA existed in a two-tier, relegation/promotion structure. The champions from division two were promoted each season. Conversely, the team coming last (the "wooden spooners" in the first division were relegated. The second division champions were:
