Northam, Western Australia ) is anAustralian rules football er in the WAFL.McGrath had a brief taste of the professional
Australian Football League , when he was recruited from South Fremantle to theWest Coast Eagles 'rookie list . He was delisted after spending two years on their list without playing a game. He was then given another chance by theEssendon Football Club , where he played with his brother Cory, although again did not manage to make his senior debut.In 2005 he won both the Sandover and
Simpson Medal s and was a member of South Fremantle's premiership winning side. He was involved in a controversy in the awarding of the Simpson Medal following the WAFL Grand Final when the number 8 was called (McGrath number is 39, but he had polled 8 votes), and McGrath's name announced. The number 8,Clint Jones arrived on stage in confusion. The mistake was quickly rectified and the medal was correctly awarded to McGrath.In 2008 he was appointed captain of South Fremantle and played his 150th game for the Bulldogs.
