Deglet Nour (Arabic:دقلة نور 'translucent' or 'Date of light') dates are a cultivar of date grown in Algeria and Tunisia. Deglet Nour is one of more than 100 varieties of dates. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), dates can be classified into two varieties: Deglet Nour and common dates [1].
Tunisia and Algeria are the world's largest producers of these dates, where it is mainly grown in the djérid region and the zibans region.
Deglet Nour has a characteristic soft touch, a translucent blond color and a soft caramel-like taste. These three characteristics distinguish it from all other dates.
