- Umeå Institute of Design
The Umeå Institute of Design, is a college within the Faculty of Science and Technology at Umeå University. The Institute opened in 1989 and is designed and equipped solely for the teaching of industrial design. The Umeå Institute of Design is known around the world for its high academic standards. and it's the only Swedish school on BusinessWeek`s top 60 list of design school in the world. The school gets most of is credits from the talented international students working on diverse projects whithin the school.

The Institute offers a three-year industrial design programme leading to a Bachelors degree (120 credits). (only in Swedish)

For some years now, the Institute has conducted applied research and development work which is organised into two areas: the Interaction Design Lab (IDL) and the Volvo Research Programme (SET). Since the autumn of 2001 the Institute of Design has offered doctoral studies in industrial design.
