Lefteris Papadopoulos ( _el. Λευτέρης Παπαδόπουλος) is a Greek
lyricist , poet and journalist.He was born in
Athens, Greece in1935 . He started studying at the Law School of theUniversity of Athens but he stopped during the third year in order to work as a journalist. Since1959 , he has worked in the newspaperTa Nea and has become one of the best known article-writers at the paper during the last 25 years.He became involved in songs and music in
1963 . He wrote the lyrics for about 1,200 songs. He has co-operated with many great mucisians, composers and singers likeMikis Theodorakis ,Stavros Xarhakos ,Manos Loizos ,Stavros Koujioumtzis ,Mimis Plessas ,Christos Nikolopoulos ,Stelios Kazantzidis ,Grigoris Bithikotsis ,George Dalaras ,Marinella ,Viki Mosholiou and many others. In1969 , he wrote the lyrics for "O Dromos" (music byMimis Plessas ) which became the fastest selling Greek album. From all the co-operations that Papadopoulos had with Greek composers, the one withManos Loizos , with whom he was a personal friend, should be considered as of particular importance.Some of the most beautiful and well-known Greek songs from
1960 to1990 have lyrics written by Papadopoulos. He also wrote some books about Greek music; such as the one about the lyricistEftichia Papagianopoulos . He has presented various programmes aboutGreek Music on television. The most recent was the one in the third channel of the National Television, ERT, with the name "Makrines Filies". Lefteris Papadopoulos is married to director Raea Mouzenidou and has a son and a daughter as well as two grandchildren.
