The Belgians chose their entries in 2003 and 2004 in a program called 'Eurosong for Kids', in 2003 organized by the Flemish broadcaster VRT, in 2004 organized by RTBF. In 2005, the selection was called 'Eurokids', and a common project of these two broadcasters. This was because Belgium organized the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2005 in Hasselt and the EBU asked to do so. In 2006, RTBF withdrew, so since then only VRT participates for Belgium. VRT is the broadcaster of Flanders, and that's why since then only Dutch songs represented the country. Since 2006, the national candidate is chosen in 'Junior Eurosong'. The jury can give wildcards in the preliminary rounds, in the final, only the viewers can decide who will represent Belgium by televoting.

X!NK, Thor and Trust sang in Dutch, Free Spirits and Lindsay sang in French. Belgium will perform in 2008 with Oliver. He will sing "Shut Up", a song in Dutch.

The country's best result was the sixth place in 2003 in Copenhagen and the worst one was the fifteenth place in 2007 in Rotterdam.

The 2005 Dutch participant Tess lives in Belgium.
