Brian Carthy

Brian Carthy

Brian Carthy works for RTE as a sports commentator, and specialises in games of the Gaelic Athletic Association and has a nationwide profile. He has also written a number of books on a sporting theme.

Brian is a native of Ballymore, near Strokestown, County Roscommon.

His mother is a local author named Susan Carthy, who has written a biography of her life titled "In The Shadow Of Sliah Bán".She lost her sight around twenty years ago.

Brian has suffered a recent bereavement at the death of his sister, Rosie Carthy, near the end of 2007.
