Rhod Sharp (born
1953 ) is a Scottish-born broadcaster, best known as a presenter of Up All Night onBBC Radio Five Live .Biography
After being educated at
Perth Academy , theUniversity of Aberdeen and Princeton he entered journalism in1976 as a trainee at theBBC . He worked forIRN /LBC ,Radio Tay andChannel 4 News before returning to the BBC. During the 1980s he was its correspondent inCalifornia and the Pacific northwest of theUnited States .When the BBC started the news and sport station Five Live in
1994 , Sharp came up with the idea for the night programme. Since its launch he has been a regular presenter.Sharp doesn't only present the programme from
London , but regularly from abroad, mostly from the United States. In2001 he was on the second commercial flight toNew York City after9/11 to give in-depth analysis of the aftermath of the terrorist attacks. He also presented Five Live's programmes on the American presidential and congressional elections. In recent years he has become instrumental in giving wider coverage on British radio of sports likebaseball andAmerican football , presenting its live broadcasts of theWorld Series and theSuper Bowl .Trivia
