Tomáš Netopil (born in 1975) is a promising young Czech conductor emerging on the international classical music circuit. He conducted the
Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra in 2005 and made his debut with theLondon Philharmonic Orchestra in May 2006. In 2006, he also conducted at theSalzburg Festival and l'Orchestra del Teatro Regio di Parma.Tomas Netopil studied
violin and conducting in his home town in the Czech republic as well as at the Royal College of Music inStockholm with Prof.Jorma Panula , who educated many prominent conductors. In 2002 he won the first SirGeorg Solti Conductors Competition at theAlte Oper Frankfurt . In May 2004, Tomas Netopil made his debut at thePrague Spring International Music Festival , and immediately after that he conducted Dvořák'sStabat Mater at theSalzburg Festival . At the invitation ofDavid Zinman , Tomas Netopil worked for the first time with theCleveland Orchestra at theAspen Music Festival and School inColorado as assistant conductor in 2005.
