November 14 ,1957 -July 4 ,1998 ) was atap dancer andchoreographer .Burge graduated from New York's prestigious Fiorello H. LaGuardia High
School of Performing Arts in 1975. His credits ranged from television's "The Electric Company " to the stage and film version of "A Chorus Line " (1985), for which he served as assistant to choreographerJeffrey Hornaday and performed the role of Richie, as he had on Broadway.A tap dancer from the age of 7, Burge won a
scholarship to study at theJuilliard School when he was 17.Burge was nominated for two
Tony Awards , twoDrama Desk Awards , won theFred Astaire Award twice, and also received honors for his Broadway performances in "Song and Dance " and "Oh, Kay! ." He also performed as the Scarecrow for four years in the Broadway production of "The Wiz " and appeared in the long-running "Sophisticated Ladies ".Burge was also active in the music video industry, choreographing
Michael Jackson 's "Bad" music video (directed byMartin Scorsese ) withJeffrey Daniel and another video for the reggae bandSteel Pulse .In addition, Burge ran a dance studio on
Long Island . He was 40 years old when he died of abrain tumor in 1998.External links
