West Lynn, Norfolk

West Lynn is the part of the town of King's Lynn that is west of the River Great Ouse. It is linked to the main part of King's Lynn by a direct passenger ferry or by a circuitous 4 km road journey. [Ordnance Survey (2002). "OS Explorer Map 250 - Norfolk Coast West". ISBN 0-319-21886-4.] [Ordnance Survey (1999). "OS Explorer Map 236 - King's Lynn, Downham Market & Swaffham". ISBN 0-319-21867-8.]

It originally constituted a separate civil parish, and in 1894 this became the sole parish in the then new King's Lynn Rural District. The parish and district were split in 1935 with the urban part becoming part of the borough of King's Lynn, and the rest becoming part of the parish of Clenchwarton in Marshland Rural District.cite web | title = West Lynn AP/CP Norfolk through time | publisher = Great Britain Historical GIS Project | url = http://www.visionofbritain.org.uk/relationships.jsp?u_id=10092474&c_id=10001043 | accessdate = May 31 | accessyear = 2006]
