There are many with the surname Jahangiri in different parts of Iran (Mainly in Tabriz and Esfahan). The Jahangiri's in Iran are not affiliated, Jahangiri is a Zoroastrian name of "Jaha va giri"
History
The Jahangiris were well known as the Jahangiri chain of Sultans in the history of
Pakistan . According toH. G. Raverty , their kingdom stretched fromJalalabad to Jehlum. At times, the Jahangiris even ruled overKashmir . The last of the Jahangiri Sultans of Swat were Owais Jahnagiri and Mir Haider Ali Gebri ofBajaur , who were defeated byBabur and their allies in the late 15th century.Clans
Some famous subsections of the Jahangiris are Amier Khani, Sab Dini, Adlai, Akhun Khel, Aspi Khel, Ali Khel, Hassani, Manshahi, Khabardini, Esap Ali Khel,
Barkhani andKhazani . Pashto, Hindko and in some places Dari is spoken in the tribe.
