Paredes de Coura (pron. IPA2|pɐ'ɾedɨʃ dɨ 'ko(ow)ɾɐ) is a municipality in Portugal with a total area of 138.2 km² and a total population of 9,367 inhabitants (2006).

The municipality is composed of 21 parishes, and is located in the district of Viana do Castelo.

The present Mayor is António Pereira Júnior, elected by the Socialist Party.

The municipal holiday is August 10.

Paredes de Coura Festival

The town is internationally famous for the Paredes de Coura summer rock festival. In the past years, the festival has seen performances from bands like Gogol Bordello, Pixies, Foo Fighters, Breed 77, Queens of the Stone Age, Bloc Party, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Sum 41, Morrissey, We Are Scientists, Hot Hot Heat, !!!, Placebo, PJ Harvey, Nick Cave, Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene, Bauhaus, Red House Painters, Tindersticks, Divine Comedy, dEUS, Suede, Mogwai, Death from Above 1979, Yo La Tengo, Coldplay, Morcheeba, Papa Roach, 3 Doors Down, Stone Temple Pilots, Korn, Incubus, Puddle of Mudd, Motörhead, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Kaiser Chiefs, Sir Elton John, among others. The 2005 edition brought some 30.000 people from all around Europe to this small town in the northern Portuguese hills.
