Abraham Billy Hardee, Jr, better known as Billy Hardee, (born
August 12 ,1954 in Lakeland,Florida ) is anAmerican football defensive back .He played
college football forVirginia Tech from 1972-1975. Hardee started his collegiate career as awide receiver , transitioning to defensive back in 1974. Hardee finished in the Top 10 nationally in 1975, with seveninterception s. This, along with his work as a kick returner, earned him Honorable Mention as an AP All American and a spot on the National Independent All-Star Football squad.Following graduation from Virginia Tech, Hardee went on to play in the NFL, the CFL and the USFL. Hardee retired from professional football in 1985.
Hardee was elected to the Virginia Tech Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005.He currently is an assistant principal at Jewett Academy Middle School in
Winter Haven, Florida . He and his wife Deborah have 3 children of which, their son (Billy III) went on to follow in his dad's footsteps and play for the Hokies from 1999-2001.Professional career
