James Edward McConnon (born June 21, 1922, Burnopfield, County Durham, died January 26, 2003, Altrincham, Lancashire) was an English cricketer who played in two Tests in 1954 as an off-spin bowler. He played for Glamorgan from 1950 to 1961, missing 1956 when he decided to play in the Lancashire League.

McConnon's selection for the Ashes tour of 1954-55 was controversial in that it meant that Jim Laker was not taken. [Cite book | author = Brian Scovell | title = "Jim Laker: Nineteen for Ninety" | edition = 2006 | publisher = The History Press | ISBN = 978-0752439327 ] As it was McConnon was injured during the tour and played little. He claimed 100 wickets in a season three times with 136 at 16.07 in 1951 being his best.
