Joost van den Broek

Joost van den Broek (also known as Juicy or Juiced, born July 13, 1982) is a keyboardist in the metal band After Forever.

Biography

He studied for 5 years, obtaining a degree in Music production and the use of keyboards. He then went on to study for a master's degree in Music Technology. He graduated cum laude in 2006 after a presentation during which he was joined on stage by Robby Valentine, and Stream of Passion members Lori Linstruth (Guitar), Marcela Bovio (Vocals) and Johan van Stratum (Bass). Joost is known for his ability and skill with the keyboard, and also for his use of the keytar, a keyboard in the shape of a guitar, which is played with one hand controlling the keyboard, and the other used to operate buttons and other controls on the neck of the instrument. In his varied musical career, Joost has performed and recorded alongside Sun Caged, ANAND, Vandenberg and Robby Valentine. He has also worked with Arjen Lucassen's Star One, Ayreon, and Stream of Passion. He is also a member of The Supremacy.

He has been significantly influenced by Steve Vai, Derek Sherinian, Muse, Jamiroquai and Devin Townsend. In the album "After Forever", Joost had the opportunity to collaborate on the composition and production of the album alongside other band members.

Thanks to his influence in "After Forever", Joost has strongly influenced the sound of many compositions, whilst still retaining many classic features of his style.
