General

West Forsyth is located in Clemmons, a small suburb of Winston-Salem. Located between Interstate-40 and US-421, the area is rapidly growing, which is directly evidenced by the school's size. Until the recent construction of Reagan High School, the school serviced both Clemmons and Lewisville. Its spread out campus-style school layout makes traveling between classes at West easier than at many other schools. There is also a large number of picnic tables outside for eating lunch in the fall and spring. The school has five computer labs, all with machines using the Windows XP operating system. The library is also up to date with modern computers, research materials, and a wide selection of novels. Chartwells School Dining Services provides the food service management of the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs. West Forsyth consistently scores well on standardized tests, often leading the county in SAT scores. = History = West Forsyth was built in 1964 after the merger of the Winston-Salem School District and Forsyth County School District. It originally served as a new home for students of Southwest High School (now Southwest Elementary) which is located within walking distance from the campus. In the begininng, only six buildings existed at West (100-600). The early seventies brought several new additions including the track, football stadium, and tennis courts. Four more buildings have been also been built. The 700 and 900 buildings were constructed in the early eighties. The Harold B. Simpson Gymnasium, named after West's first principal, was also built during that time. The 1000 building, the only two story building on campus, was constructed last in the late nineties. Also a new auditorium has been constructed ( The Performing Arts Center or PAC) replacing the old auditorium in the 600 building, which is now the new band room. The 200 and 300 buildings are in the process of being remodeled (2008) and two PODS have been put in place as well. Additionally, the office and media center soon will be remodeled and expanded. The total budget for the overall upgrading of the facility is $10.5 million.

= Athletics = West Forsyth is a member of the 4A Central Piedmont Conference (CPC). The CPC is a top-notch conference, featuring many of West's rivals including R.J. Reynolds, Mt. Tabor, and its main rival Davie County. West has won numerous conference championships. West offers a wide variety of sports on both the varsity and junior varsity level.

Paul played basketball at Wake Forest University from 2003-2005 until entering the NBA. He now playing for the New Orleans Hornets, Paul was voted the 2005-06 NBA Rookie of the Year and was the starting point guard for the 2008 USA Basketball "Redeem" Team where he helped them win a gold medal.

West Forsyth was the school of Titus Pettigrew, the 1995-96 NCHSAA Male Player of the Year

=Clubs= West offers a wide variety of clubs for its students. All clubs have a staff member as their sponsor. They also usually have a student in charge of organizing club meetings.
