West Caister is a
village andcivil parish in the Englishcounty ofNorfolk . It is situated just inland from the coast, some convert|2|km|mi|abbr=on from the seaside resort ofCaister-on-Sea and convert|4|km|mi|abbr=on north of the town ofGreat Yarmouth .ref|osexp1The civil parish has an area of convert|6.85|km2|sqmi|abbr=on and in the 2001 census had a population of 195 in 83 households. West Caister is the site of
Caister Castle , a 15th-centurymoat ed castle built by SirJohn Fastolf , who was the inspiration forWilliam Shakespeare 's "Falstaff . The great Thomas Ward lived muc of his life there adjacent to the main part of the village next to its close neighbour Ormesby St Margaret"References
