Algarah is famous for the remains of ancient Damsang fort. It is said that king Damsang had built this fort with the help of his evil spirits who brought the round smooth big stones from the river Rishi. Bringing stones by human from that river which is located in a far distance is really a next to impossible task.
Economy
The surrounding villages of this small bazaar are Paiyung Busty, Santook Menzong, Tenderbong and Dalapchand. People of these villages depend upon agriculture, floriculture milk production etc. Tenderbong busty comes in the first rank for the production of Milk. In many ways this place is lagging behind.
People
Contribution of the people of this place in the Indian Army is worth mentioning. From every house at least one son is in the defence. All the sons from some of the families have joined the defence.
