Andrew "Andy" Whyment (born 20 December 1979 in Los Angeles [http://www.tv.com/andrew-whyment/person/48901/summary.html tv.com Biography] ] ) is an English television actor, best known for comedy roles, including his role as Kirk Sutherland in the soap opera "Coronation Street". He currently lives in Horwich, near Bolton, Greater Manchester.

TV career

Whyment trained at the Laine Johnson Theatre School [http://andywhyment.co.uk/ andywhyment.co.uk] ] in Salford. His first credited part was in "Cracker" in 1993. He also had minor roles in "The Cops" and "Where the Heart Is". [http://www.corrie.net/profiles/actors/whyment_andrew.html corrie.net Biography] ] He attended Salford College of Further Education for a BTEC in Performing Arts where his real love was singing, in the mode of Oasis. From 1999 until 2000, Whyment appeared alongside Caroline Aherne and Ricky Tomlinson as Darren Sinclair-Jones in the BBC comedy "The Royle Family". Since 2001, Whyment has played the role of Kirk Sutherland in "Coronation Street". In 2003, he was due to leave Corrie to appear in a new run of Carry On films, but cancelled this plan due to their delays."Andy will Carry On back to the Street", Bolton Evening News, 21 October 2003.]

Reality television

In 2006, Whyment appeared as a contestant in the ITV reality singing competition "Soapstar Superstar". He has also appeared as a celebrity darts player on the game show "Bullseye" in the Bronze Bully Round in one episode.

Personal life
