Zyta Gilowska

Zyta Gilowska (born July 7 1949 in Nowe Miasto Lubawskie) is a Polish economist and politician. From 7 January until 23 June 2006 she was Deputy Prime Minister of Poland and Finance Minister in the Law and Justice government led by Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz and then by Jaroslaw Kaczynski.

Gilowska is a former vice chairman of Citizens Platform ( _pl. Platforma Obywatelska) party, however she left the Citizens Platform on 21 May 2005 protesting against accusations by party colleagues of wrongdoings. A former deputy to Sejm (the lower chamber of the Polish Parliament) (years 2001-2005), she was previously in Freedom Union ("Unia Wolności").

Gilowska graduated with a degree in economy from Warsaw University and was later an Economics professor at the Catholic University of Lublin.
