1960 ) is a Polish economist and specialist in the field ofcomputer science s. FromJune 24 2006 toJuly 10 2006 he was the Polish Minister of Finance.Paweł Wojciechowski was born
January 3 ,1960 . He graduated from the Foreign Trade Faculty of the Main School of Planning and Statistics in1983 . Receiving a scholarship ofJohn Carroll University , Wojciechowski graduated from that university with the grade of Bachelor of Arts in Economics in1986 . The following year he started working forDavies Can Company inSolon, Ohio and also became a teacher of economics and statistics at his alma mater. He also received the BA inoperations research fromCase Western Reserve University (1988). He then became one of the analysts atCenter for Regional Economic Issues inCleveland , where he studiedmacroeconomy and technical analysis of the Americanstock exchange system.In
1992 he returned to Poland, where he became the director of UN-sponsored "Programme for Development of Market Investment". He also became an advisor to the Ministry of Privatisation during the terms ofTomasz Gruszecki ,Wiesław Kaczmarek andJerzy Hausner . In1994 he received the Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Systemic Research of thePolish Academy of Sciences . Between 1994 and1996 he was a member of the board of trustees of theLublin -basedBank Depozytowo-Kredytowy and then a director of the Equity Finds Division of thePolski Bank Rozwoju . In the later period he was also working at various posts for thePolska Grupa Zarządzania Funduszami ,Kleinwort Benson company andTowarzystwo Funduszy Inwestycyjnych PBK Atut . In1999 he completed his post-graduate studies oncontrolling .Between July of
1999 and July of2005 he was the managing director ofPTE Allianz Polska , a Polish branch of the internationalAllianz group. During his term the fund was often criticised for becoming the least profitable of all similar funds in Poland. In March of2006 Wojciechowski returned to active politics and became an advisor to Prime MinisterKazimierz Marcinkiewicz . SImultaneously he was the deputy chairman of Police chemical factory. OnJune 23 he was named the successor ofZyta Gilowska where he succeeded as the Minister of FinanceZyta Gilowska who had to resign following accusations of collaboration with the Communist secret services in late 1980s. He was made to resign by the new Prime MinisterJarosław Kaczyński onJuly 10 and succeeded byStanisław Kluza .References
