- John Lent
John Lent (1948 to 2006) is a Canadian
poet andnovelist .1948 to 2006, born in
Antigonish ,Nova Scotia , he grew up inEdmonton ,Alberta . Lent studied at theUniversity of Alberta , where he was a student of Sheila Watson.Since 1980, he has taught
Creative Writing and literature courses at theNew Okanagan College in Vernon,British Columbia . Lent has read his work in many cities in Canada, theUnited States ,France andEngland . He was a founding member of theKalamalka Press , theKalamalka Institute for working writers and the annual Mackie Lecture and Reading series at New Okanagan College. Lent is also asinger/songwriter and plays in the roots/jazz trio Lent Fraser Wall.His most recent book, "So it Won't Go Away" (2005), is a sequel to his 1996 story sequence "Monet's Garden". It was shortlisted for the
BC Book Prizes ' 2006Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize .Lent lives in
