Mexican football player forChivas de Guadalajara alternating between Forward and Attacking Midfielder wearing number 10.Biography
Nicknamed by fans as "El Venado" (The Deer), Medina amazes spectators with his lightning-quick speed, skillful dribbling along both left and right wings, and precise passes and crosses.
Medina made his professional debut for Chivas on
August 8 ,2000 at only 17 years old, and won an award for most promising player. He started playing for Chivas with Omar Bravo and with a cousin namedRamon Rangel . All three of them were strikers. They would all play in their home towns in Mexico and were main attractions because of their style of play, but Rangel did not have as much luck as Alberto and Omar because of a knee injury and had to stop playing on the team. But Rangel was not the only one that had an injury, because Alberto's soccer career came in jeopardy after a devastating knee injury in early 2004, but returned for the later part of Clausura 2003 to become Chivas' main attacking threat. Alberto "El Venado" Medina (at time of reporting) had seven goals in the Apertura 2006, alongside his partnersAdolfo Bautista andOmar Bravo , and he was a major factor in Chivas' Championship win for the Apertura 2006 Tournament. Beto (Medina) had a tremendous start to the Clausura 2007 Tournament, he scored six goals in eighteen games in the league. One of his more recent amazing goals was a spectacular lob over Atlante's goalkeeperFederico Vilar from the far right side of the pitch. Medina is part of spectacular attacking duo in the pitch alongside his best friend and teammateOmar Bravo , they terrorize defenders through either flank in the field often switching sides on either wing to confuse the rival team. Time and time again Alberto has shown that he is an important part of Chivas.Mexican national team
Ricardo Lavolpe had been impressed with Medina's prodigious skills, and called him to be in Mexico's national team many times, be it for friendly matches in 2003, the Athens Olympic Games in 2004, or for the2005 Confederations Cup inGermany as a substitute for senior players such asJared Borgetti or fellow Chivas playerRamón Morales . Medina has 37 caps for Mexico registering 2 goals. He has been called upon once again to represent the Mexican National Football Team this time by new head coach
Hugo Sanchez .He represented his country in the 2007 Gold Cup tournament where they were finalist. He also played in Venezuela in the Copa América 2007 where his country won 3rd place and only losing to Argentina in the semi-finals.Honors
