Peter Squire was commissioned into the RAF in
1966 . Following initial officer training at theRAF College Cranwell and subsequent flying training, Squire flew Hunters and later, Harriers. In1982 Squire led members of his squadron in action in the Falklands campaign where he was awarded the DFC.He was appointed
Air Officer Commanding No.1 Group in1993 ,Assistant Chief of the Air Staff in1994 andCommander-in-Chief Strike Command in1999 . He served as Chief of the Air Staff from2000 to2003 .Later life
Squire is currently Chairman of the
Board of Trustees of theImperial War Museum and the Vice-Chairman of the Board of theCommonwealth War Graves Commission . He is also the Senior Warden of Governors atKing's School, Bruton and aDeputy Lieutenant ofDevon .References
