Grace Marion Jantzen (
24 May 1948 –2 May 2006 ) was a feminist philosopher and theologian. Hanneke Canters (1969–2002) was a feminist philosopher and student of Grace Jantzen. Canters was born in
The Netherlands and subsequently studiedTheology andPhilosophy at theUniversity of Groningen . Then she studied the philosophy of religion with Professor Grace Jantzen atKing's College London . Canters was awarded a Master of Arts degree. Following this Canters won a scholarship to study for aDoctorate at theUniversity of Sunderland under the supervision of Dr.Pamela Sue Anderson and Dr John Mullarkey. Her thesis was a study of the Belgian feminist philosopher and former Lacanian psychoanalystLuce Irigaray , in particular her book "Elemental Passions". Eventually, her thesis was supervised by Grace Jantzen and successfully examined. Not long after Canters developed a terminal illness and died inLeiden in September 2002.
