September 16 ,1950 in Oregon City,Oregon , U.S.) is an American actress. She is best known for her role as Roxanne Melman, the motherly secretary of Arnie Becker (Corbin Bernsen ) in "L.A. Law " (1986-1993). She also returned to the role in 2002 for the TV reunion movie "".Ruttan first attracted significant attention playing the scheming wife of George Jefferson's dry cleaning arch rival, Gil Cunningham, on "
The Jeffersons ". Later TV appearances include episodes of "Remington Steele ", "Gilmore Girls ", "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", and "Yes, Dear ". "Buffy" creatorJoss Whedon cast numerous show alums in 2008's "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog ", including Ruttan who appeared briefly in a non-speaking role.Ruttan's most notable film role to date was in 2004's "Helter Skelter" in which she played the mother of
