NicoShot

NicoShot

NicoShot is a brand of beer manufactured by the German company Nautilus GmbH Laboratoriumsbedarf, to be sold in the United States. Its main feature is its 3 milligram nicotine content. It is aimed at smokers who are trying to quit, much like nicotine patches or gum. It has many of the same advantages and disadvantages of the latter two quitting methods, i.e. it effectively relieves the smoker of the urge to light a cigarette, but is not a 'cure' for smoking and cannot be used permanently as a replacement for smoking.

The new beer was initially announced on June 5, 2005, at a time when an increasing amount of pressure (such as smoking bans in public places) was being put on smokers for them to quit.

Composition of the beer

A 250 ml can contains:
* 3 milligrams of naturally derived nicotine alkaloids
* 63 calories
* 4.5 carbohydrates
* 6.3% vol. alcohol

Three cans of NicoShot are roughly equivalent to smoking a whole pack of cigarettes.
