the Appleseed Cast . The album was a complete departure from the heavy, distorted guitar-driven emo rock of their debut, "The End of the Ring Wars " and a natural, if still startling, progression from the layered, atmospheric, but still song-based follow-up "Mare Vitalis ". "Low Level Owl Volume I" saw the band craft a seamless, flowing suite ofpost-rock influenced songs hinging on simple, repeated arpeggiated guitar riffs, swathes of keyboards and found sounds and the inventive drumming of Josh "Cobra" Baruth, with Chris Crisci's vocals buried in the mix.Fusing the songs together were ambient passages and atmospheric instrumentals. The album was greeted mostly with very enthusiastic reviews, although some were put off by the intentionally repetitive nature of some of the tracks and by the connective ambient passages.
