Autumn Kanto Tournament

The Autumn Kanto Tournament is a fictional event depicted in the Eyeshield 21 manga series.

A total of 8 teams around the Kanto area will get to play in the Autumn Kantou Tournament. Three teams from the Tokyo area, one team from the Hokkaidō area, two teams from the Kanagawa area, one team from the Shizuoka area and one team from the SIC area.

After winning the chance to play in the Kanto tournament from their own District tournament, all eight teams will go to a tournament lottery where they pick out who they are going to face in the tournament.

Here are the team match-ups for the Autumn Kanto Tournament.

Match 1

Misaki Wolves

*Logo: Wolf
*They got first place in the Hokkaidō area.
*Misaki's main belief was in the power of speed, but none of them were fast enough to keep up with Seibu, particularly Riku and his Rodeo Drive, forcing them out in the first round.
*Although Misaki also loses in the anime rendition, the game is much closer with the Wolves taking a 21-0 lead before Seibu makes a dramatic comeback and wins 46-21.
*Their lottery number was 1

eibu Wild Gunmen

*Kumabukuro's comment: The combination of Kid and Tetsuma's attacks gives a strong impression to their supporters in the Spring Tournament.

*They got second place in the Tokyo area.
*Their lottery number was 2
*Although Seibu went into the Tokyo tournament the favorite, they ended up short handed again in the finals against Ojo. (whom they also lost against in the semi-finals of the Spring Tournament) However, with their consistency on offense with players such as Jo Tetsuma, Riku Kaitani and quarterback "The Kid", the Gunmen rode to an easy victory in the quarterfinals against Misaki. In the second game against the Hakushuu Dinosaurs, the team appears to show signs of resisting their opponent...until lineman Rikiya Gaō smashes Kid out of the game. Without their quarterback and leader, the Gunmen fall apart and Hakushuu takes the victory.

*Initially seen as a team to watch alongside Deimon after the Spring Tournament, Hakushuu made an immense impression on the tournament by obliterating the offensive line of the Taiyo Sphinx in the quarterfinals with the power of Rikiya Gaō. They then disabled quarterback The Kid of Seibu after a valient effort on the Gunmen's part, leading to another eventual blowout in the semifinals after the Deimon/Ojo match. Though the powerful combinations nearly defeated Deimon, a skillful effort by Hiruma and defensiveman Kurita finally knocked them out of the tournament in the final seconds of the conference final.

Taiyō Sphinx

*They got second place in the Kanagawa area.
*Their lottery number was 4
*Showing off their power in an exhibition match against Deimon, the defensive strategies of Taiyo was expected to make a big impact on the tournament. But in the quarterfinals, the offensive line was crushed by the Hakushuu Dinosaurs, forcing them to forfeit after the first half left most of the team broken and the Dinosaurs with a commanding lead.

*They got third place in Autumn Tokyo Tournament
*Their lottery number was 5
*After barely getting into the tournament by defeating the Bando Spiders, Deimon shocked everyone by upsetting the Shinryuji Nagas in the quarterfinals. Then facing longtime rival Ojo in the semifinal, they barely won when time ran out on a touchdown by Sena Kobayakawa and defeated the Hakushuu Dinosaurs with a combination of defenseman Kurita and the nearly crippled Hiruma to secure their Christmas Bowl berth.

hinryūji Naga

*Logo: Dragon
*They got first place in the Kanagawa area. However, they got an automatic bye by winning in the Spring Tournament, defeating Ojo to do so.
*Their lottery number was 6
*After winning every Kanto tournament since its founding, (9 times in a row), Shinryuji was seen as the overwhelming favorite to win another tournament. They showed their force once again in the quarterfinal against Deimon, dominating them in every aspect in the first half, under the leadership of genius Agon Kongo. But Deimon did the unthinkable: scoring five straight touchdowns during the second half, then a final two-point conversion to eliminate the Nagas for the first time ever in Kanto tournament history.

Ojo White Knights

*Kumabukuro Comment: Has the team become just Shin and the defense? And without their so-called "Golden Generation", could Ojo be eliminated early on?

*They were first place in the Tokyo area.
*Their lottery number was 7
*With the loss of the Golden Generation, Ojo was not seen as a favorite to make it back to another tournament. But on the back of perfect player Seijuro Shin, the combination of Haruto Sakuraba and Ichiro Takami, and a powerful defense, the White Knights won the Tokyo tournament, then made quick work of the Sado Strong Golems in the quarterfinals. In their next match they faced Deimon, who although Ojo made quick work in the Spring Tournament, has become much more powerful since their early humiliating loss. Yet even with the efforts of the whole team, a final touchdown by Sena Kobayakawa as time ran out dashed the White Knight's dreams for the Kanto final once again.

ado Strong Golems

*They got first place in the Shizuoka area.
*Although a team prided on their own rock-hard defense, they were not as strong as the force of Ojo's defense while being broken through by the power of Seijuro Shin. Thus, they were crushed in the first round.
