Balnamore

Balnamore ("Baile án Monaidh" in Irish) is a small village in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Ballymoney is 3 kilometres to the east, and Coleraine is 10 kilometres to the north west. It had a population of 661 people in the 2001 Census. Features

Balnamore developed as a mill village during the 19th century. Following the closure of the mill in the 1950s, the village experienced very little development apart from the addition of a number of public authority housing developments. In the past decade Balnamore has expanded with the construction of both private and public housing. There are few facilities in the village apart from a modern primary school (Balnamore Primary School).

Transport

The village has good road links to Ballymoney and Coleraine and adequate public transport connections by bus to these two towns.

On Census day (29 April 2001) there were 661 people living in Balnamore.
