George Williams Knox, D.D., LL.D. (1853 – 1912) was an American Presbyterian
theologian and writer, born atRome, New York . He graduated fromHamilton College in 1874 and fromAuburn Theological Seminary in 1877, after which he went as amissionary toJapan , where he was professor ofhomiletic s inTokyo and professor of philosophy and ethics at theImperial University of Japan .Following his return to the
United States , he was pastor at Rye, N. Y. In 1897–1899 he lectured at Union Theological Seminary.Works
